Is there such a thing as too much democracy ?
Before understanding Too Much Democracy, some things about democracy.
Democracy
Democracy is a system run by the people with the consent of the people. Democracy means a government elected by a group of people. In this system, people elect a government for themselves as per the rights given by the constitution, which acts as a representation for them.
Features of democracy:
People's freedom of Speech : In a democratic system, people have freedom of speech which is given to them by the Constitution and the government cannot snatch this right.
Freedom to Roam : Democracy is a system in which people have complete freedom to move from one place to another.
Freedom of Movement : In a democratic system, people can protest against the government or any other institution to protect their rights.
Freedom to Practice any Religion : In a democracy, the government cannot promote any religion because in a democracy the government is seen as a secular government, hence people can adopt any religion as per their choice.
Equality before the Law : In a democracy, whether rich or poor, all people are equal before the law, no one is special before the law.
Why do we need democracy
We need democracy because if there is no democracy, dictatorship will increase and the Constitution will remain in name only.
If there is no democracy then the whole system will get spoiled and the activities related to wrong deeds will increase a lot within the society due to which the people
of the society and the country will not be able to live a good life. Due to lack of democracy, terrorist activities can also increase which can lead to problems like murder and exploitation and the problem of robbery will increas.
Therefore, democracy is very important for a happy and prosperous society and we all should adopt it.
In today's time we cannot even imagine our society without democracy.
Today, the result of democracy is that we can choose anything as per our wish like freedom to read, freedom to eat and drink anything, freedom to talk to anyone, freedom to meet anyone etc.
If we had not lived in a democratic system, we might have been forced to live a life of slavery.
Here we will discuss how the present form of democracy came into existence.
Before the present condition, we would like to enter the pages of history.
If we talk about 100 to 200 years ago, there are many countries which were slaves of some country or the other.
When these countries were slaves, people were exploited a lot and there were many people who were killed and people made a lot of efforts to get out of this chain of slavery.
After a long time when these people were freed from the chains of slavery for freedom then a new system is born which people call democracy and accordingly they talk about running the state together democratically and talk about development of all.
If we talk about India, this country has also been a slave of Britain for almost 200 years and today this country is becoming a different example of democracy.
India was once living life according to Britain but today this country is able to run its own governance democratically.
When we were slaves, the people of that country wanted independence and when these people became independent, they made a system of democracy. When people started living in a democratic country, they got many rights and they used these rights to make their life good and civilized so that no one could exploit them and these people could live a good life.
Is there really such a thing as too much democracy
As people started living in a democratic country, they gradually started getting educated, they started knowing about their rights and they started agitating against the government to protect their rights so that they cannot be exploited by the government. As time passed, some intellectuals of the society started calling the rights that people have got in democracy as too much democracy because they feel that they are misusing their rights.
Some leaders of the country or society feel that the people are taking wrong advantage of the democratic rights given to the people of the country and some leaders are calling this too much democracy.
Is this true or just a rumor? Is there some logic behind it? But why did these intellectuals say this?
Is there really such a thing as too much democracy or is it just an illusion?
In a democratic state, people face many problems, be it the poor, hospital needs, school expenses, household expenses, etc., all these are the problems which the poor families face at the family level.
But apart from all this, there are some policies of the government which the people of the country do not want to adopt, this is because they consider these policies to be against them. And on the other hand besides these problems there is another problem, the government wants to implement these policies, then what happens is that a situation of tension arises between the government and the public.
The government tries to convince the public again and again but the government is not able to succeed, hence the public is thinking that if we accept what the government says then it will not be good for the people of the entire country, hence the people of the country are against the government. Agitates again and again so that the government takes back this policy. The government is explaining again and again but public is not ready to accept it and on the other hand the government is not ready to bow down.
In this situation, what happens is that the form of movement in the country becomes violent and the people of the country cause harm to the damage to government property like setting fire to the railway carriages, blocking the railway tracks, blocking roads and highways.
The government sends a team of ministers to explain it to the public, but even that does not work and no one is able to solve the problem.
This situation that has arisen between the government and the people has been given the name of too much democracy by some intellectuals because these intellectuals believe that the fundamental rights given to the people are given to
them to live a good life but people are misusing it.
These things which are too much democracy are said by the some intellectuals of our country out of anger because the public is not ready to step back from their movement.
We can define too much democracy in such a way that it is the product of some high level minds in this democracy among us who try to give the status of too much democracy to democracy.
Such statements are made to us by politicians or high level people of the state when they come in front of the media on some special event or on some special occasion.
Why did the people of the country do this, why have they got so much freedom in this country, why do these people go on protest if the government brings any bill, why are these people not ready to listen to the government, some intellectuals have such thinking towards the people of the country and this is all these things are called too much democracy by some intellectuals of the country.
Too much democracy is not a theory but it is a dirty game of corrupt minds which is said by some intellectuals of the state that we should not pay attention to all these things and should continuously fight for our rights in a democratic state.
If we talk about things like too much democracy in recent times, then 1 to 2 examples were seen in India.
The Government of India brought a bill whose name was "Kisaan Bill". The government brought the bill but it was strongly opposed by the farmers of India.
Before the coming of this bill, there was a provision that farmers could sell their produce only in the government market, but after the coming of this bill, the government made a provision that farmers can now sell their produce to any other private company other than the government market. They could sell at a reasonable price but before selling their produce to a private company, the farmers had to enter into a contract with this company and the farmers did not like this because they felt that the government was trying to promote privatization in this sector and the farmers across the country opposed this bill so much, they blocked roads, blocked highways, blocked railway tracks and even did not spare ancient heritage like Red Fort.
The government kept convincing the farmers that the bill is correct and it will not cause any kind of loss to them, but the farmers did not even listen to the government and remained adamant on their insistence.
Seeing all these incidents, a CEO of a government organization gave a statement that whatever the farmers are doing is the result of too much democracy and the government should control it.
A similar example can be seen in India. The Indian government has come up with a scheme a few year ago, which is called “Agniveer Yojana”. This scheme was brought by the Indian government for the Indian Army, in which the army will be retired after 4 years only, whereas this was not the case earlier.
For this reason, this scheme was opposed a lot by the youth of the country and there
was vandalism in many places of the country and even the country's properties were damaged a lot.Seeing all this, some intellectuals of the country named it Too Much Democracy. Some intellectuals of the country believe so that people in India have got more democratic rights, which people are misusing .
If we look from the youth's point of view, this movement was right too, but the government still did not bow down and did not take back this law and implemented it in the whole country.
Conclusion
The conclusion of all this is that there is no such thing or theory of too much democracy which poses any threat to the country and its leaders.
If the citizens of the country protest in a violent manner for their rights, it does not mean that we should call it too much democracy.
Seeing such a movement of the people, some people in power get scared and make such statements to weaken such movements, which have no justification.
Therefore, we should completely reject the idea of too much democracy because it is nothing but a means to mislead the public and we should openly use the rights we have got in democracy.
