Last night Ruby slept after doing her homework. She tried hard to sleep but was unable to sleep as she kept on thinking about what she had read in her textbook. She was worried after reading the facts written in her textbook about how this earth can come to an end if there are no actions taken against deforestation and other things like water scarcity, extinction of animals, etc. Finally, she slept somehow.
At midnight, she has awakened again. Suddenly, a fairy came in front of her. She asked Ruby why she was tensed and why she was not sleeping? Ruby told the fairy everything she was thinking about how the earth can come to an end because of the carelessness of human beings. She realized she was in heaven by the time she narrated everything to the fairy. She saw people standing in a line and going to heaven and some are going to hell too.
She asked fairy what were those people telling the gatekeeper. The fairy told her they were requesting him to forgive their faults and allow them to enter heaven. Ruby told the fairy that even she wants to go to heaven. Unfortunately, the fairy told Ruby that she can’t enter heaven because just like others even she didn’t take care of the earth didn’t maintain any cleanliness, and didn’t nurture mother earth.
Ruby requested her to take her to heaven but instead of heaven, the fairy took her for the last ride to earth. On the ride, she saw the farmers living in wooden houses and eating just a limited amount of food and even suiciding, because of lack of food for themselves and unable to pay the loan. Whereas, on the other side the rich and middle-class people used to waste food and used to supply food in black marketing. She even saw some farmers sleeping on an empty stomach. Ruby was too disappointed and sad looking at all this.
On the other hand, water scarcity was another major problem. The rivers were so dirty and unhygienic. The garbage in the rivers not only polluted the water but also spread illness in the environment. People are not getting fresh water to drink for themselves. On one side people are arranging campaigns for water conservation, rainwater harvesting and on the other side, the same people aren’t taking care of the rivers and oceans and throwing garbage in the rivers and polluting it. The use of plastic has increased day by day and because of it the animals like cows, buffalos, and dogs, etc. are suffering a lot and a large number of animals die after eating food from the dustbin. By seeing all these Ruby was almost heartbroken.
The animals are getting extinct day by day and most of the animals are getting endangered. Ruby just remembered how she had read in her textbook that if the extinction of animals is not prevented and safety measures are not taken soon there will be a threat to the entire habitat as animals play an important role in the universe. Deforestation has encouraged a lot of animal extinction and forest fires. Humans need to protect mother earth now.
By looking at all these Ruby was thinking about how she too wasted food and water with her friends and always complained about the food. She now realized how some people still suffer on earth. The fairy told her even she was equally responsible for all these destructions of earth.
She regretted it and started crying very badly. She kept on crying and saying “I will never do it again, I will never do it again”. She woke up and realized that it was all a dream and she is in her bedroom itself. She recalled everything that she saw in her dream and vowed to take precautions and try her best to protect her surroundings.
