The Jar

Updated: Jul 6

By Jatinder Kaur

Take a jar

Fill it with memories

Lingering in the deep

Crevices of brain.

Close the lid tight

And keep it

In a corner

Hidden from view

With your brain

Sans memories

Build a new you

Play a new inning

And play long

After years

When the sun if

Finally about to set

Look for that jar

All the memories

That once had the power

To Change you

 destroy you

Now seem insignificant

Obsolete, may be

Like an old jewellery piece

Bought, used and forgotten.

Without the heavy baggage

We always travel fine

Keep decluttering

Keep evolving

Keep filling new jars

What a spectacular poem it is of a common object jar- but a treasure trove of memories..

I think everyone needs to have one kind of JAR which holds your past memories of being happy and sad, ups and downs/ and the experiences, and you close it tightly to move forward but open it to reflect back.

Beautiful words to describe memories 💕
