Teenagers are often seen as the epitome of rebellion and defiance. While this may be real to some point, it is paramount to understand the basic factors that stimulate their behaviour. Teenagers of this generation are facing unique challenges that have resulted in an increase in incorrigible behaviour.
The Modern Teen Rebellion:
One of the prominent reasons for the incorrigible behaviour among teenagers of this generation is the influence of technology. With the development of smartphones and social media, teenagers are bombarded with information and are arrested in a virtual world that often glorifies rebellion. For example, a 32-year-old woman was cheated with Rs. 1.04 lakh by a fake courier boy by hacking her mobile.
Influence on Teen Behavioural Patterns:
Another factor is the lack of proper guidance and support from parents. In day-to-day life, parents often find themselves too busy to provide enough attention and guidance to their children. For example, a lack of parental care paves the way for the children to go in search of care outside and results in losing their lives.
Teen Mental Health at Risk:
The pressure to excel academically is another significant factor that affects teenagers and cultivates suicidal thoughts in their minds. For example, around 3000 students died, and the reason behind this tragic situation is “failure in examination.”
Media’s Power: Moulding Teen Mind-sets and Actions:
The media plays a vital role in shaping the behaviour and thoughts of teenagers. The portrayal of violence and other behaviours in movies, music, and video games can have profound impacts and stress on the mind. For example, crores worth of Red Sandalwood have been smuggled using the technique displayed in the movie “Pushpa,” rot in custody, and the game “Rummy” grasped the attention of people by doubling their money, which resulted in the loss of assets and finally death.
Wisdom from Great Personalities:
“The best way to make children good is to make them happy.”
-Oscar Wilde
Great minds like Oscar Wilde emphasized the importance of understanding and nurturing the emotional well-being of children. Creating an environment where teenagers feel supported and emotionally secure can mitigate tendencies toward incorrigible behavior.
“The best way to predict the future is to create it.”
Peter Drucker
Peter Drucker’s insight resonates with the idea of proactively guiding teenagers toward constructive paths. By offering mentorship, education, and constructive activities, we can steer them away from detrimental behaviour.
Building Bridges: Fostering Responsible Teen Development:
Thus, incorrigible behaviour among teenagers of this generation is a complex issue that cannot be attributed to a single cause. To address this issue, it is important for parents, educators, and society as a whole to provide a supportive and flawless environment for teenagers. It is important to comprehend that teenagers are still nourishing emotionally and mentally, and with the right support, they can surpass their rebellious tendencies and grow into responsible adults.
