The Art Of Letting Yourself Go

Updated: Oct 3, 2024

By T. Pratiksha Reddy

If I were to be murdered,

I'd ask my killer-

"Will it make you happy?

Because if it will

Then I welcome death

With open arms"

Knowing

That I will bring someone joy.

If I were to be cheated on,

I'd ask my companion-

"Do they give you butterflies?

Because if they do

Then I will walk away

From your path

Aware

That I'm not where I belong"

Yet.

If I were to be betrayed,

I'd tell my betrayer-

"! wish you a better life than mine"

Because the greatest vengeance

Is none,

But the hope

That nobody ever treads on

A heart-wrenching path

Such as this.

If I were to be loathed,

I wouldn't ask my hater-

"Why do you do so?"

I'd simply wish them well

And move on.

Doing so, I'd free them

Of this incinerating emotion.

If I were to be left alone,

I'd simply thank the Universe

For it has shown me

That the only companion

I need for life

Is myself

And that is enough.
