Stardust

 Stardust

In the velvet sky, a streak of light,

A shooting star, so brief and bright.

Like Shona, my best friend, so dear,

Entered swiftly, filled with cheer.

Brightening days with love and grace,

Equivalent to a brother, in every embrace.

But like the star, too soon to fade,

Leaving memories that never evade.

In the deep grief, I find solace,

And the love we shared, in every embrace.

Though brief your stay, forever you'll be,

My shooting star, shining eternally.

This poem beautifully captures the essence of friendship and the bittersweet nature of loss. The imagery of the shooting star as a metaphor for the narrator's dear friend, Shona, is poignant and heartfelt. The poem's rhythm flows smoothly, enhancing its emotional impact. It's a touching tribute to the enduring bond between friends and the everlasting presence of cherished memories.
