Once upon a time there lived a man called Slylock Phones. He was a detective. He was willing to investigate any matter from murder to robbery and from arsenals to insurance. He was deaf by an ear.One day a man named Slylock Holmes called upon him for help.He was carrying a diary with him.Slylock Holmes was a fat man.He was wearing a red T-Shirt.He had a long nose and freckles on his cheek.
Slylock Phones was a gentleman. He had chubby cheeks and a twisted moustache. He was largely an unsatisfied man.He talked more than he worked. He had recently opened a detective agency by the name of TELEPHONES DIARY.
Slylock Phones also had a diary. He opened it again and glanced at the set of rules which he followed:
1)In one of your intense moments to find out the truth, please choose the probable.
2)The only way to get a correct result is to derive possibilities out of probabilities.
3)There is no explanation to each and everything when all probabilities cancel out.
4)To know the probability of all probabilities is to possibilities.
Slylock Holmes stated:”I have waited on you solemnly to know the truth.”
‘I was there yesterday’
‘The room has been ransacked. The furniture was lying about and the clothes were strewn.’
‘You must look into the matter’.
Slylock Phones decided to visit the premises.
He noted the dry pool of blood.
He became serious. His brows creased and movements intensified.
Slylock Phones made a quick phone call.
Slylock Phones came to a conclusion. When nothing remains there is want of more.
Slylock Phones and Slylock Holmes together left the premises.
Slylock Phones was at home watching Sherlock Holmes on Television.
It was Halloween.According to the national federation,Halloween is the second largest holiday celebrated behind Christmas.
Americans spend 6.96 billion dollars on Halloween each year.
On Halloween lots of children disguised in various costumes arrive for trick and treat at the doorstep.
“You know the culprit when you see them”.
Suddenly there was a terrific noise. It was the doorbell ringing.Mrs Bookingham was outside the door creating a certain kind of confusion. She gave no explanation for the commotion she had created.
After she had left,Slylock Phones made a quick phone call.
There were many people by the name of Bookingham listed in the telephone directory.Mrs Bookingham had left her diary behind.
“To cook the egg by flipping it is commonsense”.
Mr.Bookingham had no children. He was fond of eating chocolates.
The next day Mrs.Bookingham was relaxing in the verandah when Slylock Phones showed up.
Mr.Bookingham had bequeathed his entire inheritance to a generous cause but a large piece of property was registered in the name of his former wife.
The next day when Slylock reached the house,he found out that Mrs.Bookingham had gone to the Telephone exchange office.
Slylock Phones made a quick phone call.
“To get a clear explanation of everything, one needs to think twice.”
Mrs.Bookingham had brought lots of chocolates to distribute to the children.
“You know my methods Fox”.
“Casualties like the egg are not to be avoided.”
Slylock Phones went home with concrete evidence in his hands.
1)The birth certificate of Mr.Bookingham.
2)The marriage certificate of Mr.Bookingham.
3)The death certificate of Mr.Bookingham.
PART TWO
I was dreadfully nervous. The disease had weakened my senses. Now calmly,I can tell you the story.
It was impossible to tell how the idea had first entered my head. For his money I had no desire. You may fancy me mad.I began to think and the plan gradually fell in place.
If you still think me mad,you may no longer. My heart began to beat faster when the doorbell rang.
The children had arrived for trick and treat.I sent them away by giving them chocolates and candy.
I smiled at them. What did I fear? There was no telephone in the house.
It was well past eleven.
My manner had been extremely convincing.
The children had also dispersed.
The noise grew louder and louder.
******************
I found Mrs.Bookingham outside the door creating a certain kind of confusion.
I let her inside my house.
The Telephone rang.
I reassured Mrs.Bookingham.The culprit had been caught.
The Telephone Diary of Mr.Bookingham contained a list of names and other telephone numbers.
One chit contained the words:(ARTICLE-370)
And the other PAYMENT RECEIVED.
Mr.Bookingham had died in the terrorist attacks of 9/11
The Tell tale heart of Mrs.Bookingham had come to a rest.
