What a tragic tale to tell
While your eyes tell me I am just a friend
My pupils would have bloomed the size of a lilac,
If only you looked at mine, even for a second
Oh, how the first rays of the morning sun
Remind me of the warmth you bring to a room
You alone could make every boring period at school, every exhaustive meeting at work lively
Our rides together would be no less than an adventure,
I feel myself being stretched apart like an epic cheese pull,
As my eyes see you walk towards your home
Oh, if you had only known,
How you began living in my thoughts
The day you set a small camp in my heart,
And how it soon became a house of concrete
If only you knew you were living in it rent-free...
Oh, to just see a glint or a spark in your eye,
While mine would light up like a bunch of fireworks
Every single letter or a word from your lips,
Forms a poem more beautiful than creators of the past,
I sit down to dissect and decipher,
The hidden meaning behind each verse
Oh, the malady my heart endures
When I see the lilacs bloom for the one you call "The One",
For whom you recited those poems
"The One" who makes your heart skip a beat
And conjure butterflies in your stomach
When you wish upon the stars to see a flicker in the eyes of "The One"
How I wish to tell you in great detail,
Oh, how it feels to be in a one-sided love
