Merry-Go-Round

Noted Nest

By Bhakti Agarwal

Do me a favor sometime-

Sit in the middle

of a merry-go-round,

And ask someone to push.

The world will blur

into a blue wonder

And you will laugh

like sorrow departed

from the world for good.

Take someone with you

while you're at it.

Hold their hand

if they don't fit in,

two giants lolling

in a Lilliput world

and spin till the day

blurs into night.

Or Dusk,

if your home owns

a register of check-ins.

But darling, just spin once

in that joy machine,

Smooth-edged

 from childhood glee,

Children bless it with a love

lost forever

When the body forgets

its young days.
