Life- The Bittersweet Verse from A Melancholy Song

Noted Nest

By Farhana M Ansari

There was a time in life,

When mornings smelled like baked pies,

Noons tasted like sour lemons and,

Nights sounded like the melancholy songs of a long forgotten cricket.

But now is the time in life,When childhood smells like coffee,

Teenage years taste like cigarettes and,

Adulthood sounds like a heart break song.

But there used to be a time in life,

When candies smelled like happiness,

Running wild tasted like freedom and,

Mothers sounded like a nightingale.

And now is the time in life,

When living smells like death,

Breathing tastes like poison and,

Talking sounds like cries.

But now we only care for a life,

Where perfumes smells like money,

Makeup tastes like luxury and,

Dresses sound like a jazz song.

But wouldn’t life be great,

If friendships smells like purity,

Love tastes like honey and,

Your smile sounds like heaven.
