In the Shadows, We Dance With Uncertainity

Noted Nest

By Rishika Agarwal

You have some ideas, yet they’re all tangled apart,

You have some dreams, but you’re lost in a puzzling path.

You have some people, yet know them only in part,

And some peace, but no one knows how long it will last.

You don’t know the next second, let alone the future.

What this strange life is- like a fragile glass lantern flickering in the dark, casting shadows of unspoken goodbyes.

In this life of rat race,

The more you think, the darker the shadows loom, as a thousand shifting reflections dance, obscuring the truth in their elusive gloom.

Connections fray, leaving you alone,

What I feel may be much like what you do,

Yet words slip into knots, blurring what’s true.

If only all could see and feel it whole,

No misunderstandings would have been left to rend the soul.

How odd it feels to be haunted by someone who is still alive?

How disappointing it is to be hurt by someone who you never thought would hurt you?

So are promises the sweetest lies?

In this endless maze of doubt, who carries the lantern to the answers?

Are you still on course, or tears came down

To blur the unveiled truths of this strange sphere?
