It was summer of 2019 when Sameer and Aakash met together after being online friends for over a year. There was no awkwardness between the two at the first meet. They rejoiced, partied, had dinner, and it was all blissful to say the least. After two years, both of them happened to work in the same city. The meets increased, so did their Friendship. They shared an apartment, and liking for reading, movies, Netflix, and chill, and house gardening. While Sameer had liking for simple plants, Aakash preferred flowers and blooms. The garden was filled with bougainvillea and other plants. Which time, both learnt more about each other, including differences. Life happened, the honeymoon period was replaced with reality checks. both became distant while staying together. There were no fights, no heated arguments, just misunderstandings under the blanket of maturity. And one day, it happened. Aakash proposed to move out with other friends who took priority over Sameer, with time. There was awkward silence with disagreement, turning into agreement by Sameer. Next few days saw Aakash moving all his belongings to the new abode while Sameer watched silently, breaking inside moment by moment. Few days of loneliness, silent cries and mood swings, and Sameer was trying to get back on to his life prior to 2019, when Aakash was not a part of it. Life happened again, reality check was done and Sameer adjusted somehow carrying himself back on track after few therapy sessions. One Sunday afternoon, Aakash called Sameer to load his few belongings that were left on packer and send across. Everything was sent as asked. Sameer sat with a cup of tea in evening, watching empty room and his empty soul. A tear just rolled down and then suddenly he saw four pots of bougainvillea, blooming from all ends. The tears rolled still, the pain got washed. The aroma of tea brought a smile on Sameer’s face. The bond wilted, the bougainvillea bloomed.. so did the memories. Sameer replaced his simple garden with bougainvillea.. for life.
