Anarchical Society

Anarchical Society

A new society, they said

Progressive thinking consists this modern utopia

Equality and justice for all, they said

Yet people blinded by their discriminative phobias

Our country in utter shambles

Filled with indifference and hatred

The homeless suffer, trying to break their shackles

Pinned down by society, victims of bloodshed

What good is a voice if it can’t be heard

Like Alcestis, needy struggle to find their voice

Shunned and shamed into following the herd

Could society have changed, if we gave them a choice

Our country filled with hypocrites and liars

Leaders blame others, when they’ve started the fires

Politics has shaped our society in such a way

That cows are treated better than women in dismay

Power drunken leaders, promise a better tomorrow

Blinded by greed, they can’t stop the hurt

Their own followers awakened, filled with sorrow

Humanity and moral obligations kicked to the dirt

We all have a brain, a heart, a soul

We cry the same tears, and bleed the same red

Yet somehow our society has created a dark hole

A hole of blind hate, wishing the others were dead

They say the grass is always greener on the other side

I guess in some cases, that’s unfortunately true

People are struggling daily, waiting to turn the tide

Meanwhile the rich get richer, poverty spreads like a flu

Empathy, love and understanding are long forgotten traits

You’ll never see an affluent kid, befriend a boy who loads crates

Society always judges a book by its cover

We’ve all forgotten, true beauty is what lies under

Our women struggle, undermined and abused

They toil hard, only for their basic rights to be refused

How has our society fallen so low

Our poisonous roots, incapable of growth

Our aging leaders are all stuck in the past

With their corrupt minds, they lack common sense

How does dividing people create a society that lasts

These false prophets hide, behind their white picket fence

Modern day struggles are always ignored

Life seems easy for the fortunate ones

Behind the mist of luxury, there’s a dying hoard

Living in the dark, miss the warmth of the sun

Aren’t we all searching for something

Something that makes us feel whole

If our appearance and beliefs meant nothing

We all could’ve worked towards the same goal

That’s the harsh reality of life

Our forefathers have paved our way

Left and right, people filled with strife

Only the rich aren’t filled with dismay

Our entire establishment is an illusion

Tricked us into thinking they’ve brought stability

But all they’ve created is anarchy and delusion

Will we ever see peace and serenity

What’s needed is a drastic change

Shed old beliefs and superstitions

Implanted ideas have left you deranged

What was fed to you was merely fiction

The world isn’t black or white

We all drift in the grey area between

Nobody’s the devil, nobody’s Christ

It all depends on how they want to be seen

Our society in anarchy, crying for help

Like a neglected orphan, scarred by its past

It has lost its willpower, down on its knees

Trauma doesn’t see gender, religion or caste

A new society, they said

What good is a society filled with hatred

Equality and justice for all, they said

Then why are all the victims silenced or dead

Aarnav ur poem is a powerful and poignant reflection on the deep-rooted issues plaguing our society. The vivid imagery and heartfelt sentiments capture the pain and injustices experienced by many, highlighting the stark contrasts between different social classes and the systemic failures that perpetuate inequality. Your lines about the struggles of women, the outdated mindsets of leaders, and the ignored plight of the less fortunate resonate deeply, painting a picture of a world that desperately needs change. The call for shedding old beliefs and embracing a more inclusive and equitable future is both compelling and necessary. Thank you for sharing such a thought-provoking and moving piece.
