Aryabhatt pinned down
the concept of 'zero',
and the world
celebrated his triumph.
A cosmic revelation-
that Nothingness is
an act of creation,
something sitting at
the brink of
the ultimate truth:
All we know is
nothing more, nothing less.
The absence of something
cannot be trivial,
it moves with the world
how vacuum wraps itself
around the planets almighty
and the embrace of Balance,
swerves in a waltz
under the mirrorball
of the universe.
But there emerged
from the depths of evolution,
an anomaly-
Consciousness. Perception.
Telling the flesh of a Brain
that triviality is Death.
That Nothingness is
an act of Destruction.
Only someone great
is a participant of life,
rest are just data points
a bored intern records
in the Registry of Life.
A world basking
In the marvel of 'zero',
engulfed in the vacuum embrace,
dares to insinuate
that my nothingness
is best laid to rest?
Oh, how rebellious thoughts
cross my mind!
Daring me to live by
the rules of banality and die!
Like a martyr
who never picked a gun,
Let my skin soak away the sun!
And not pay a dime for it!
I don't have to shine for it!
Consciousness is best laid to rest
not in a grave,
but in a garden bed.
All we know
is nothing more, nothing less.
Rickety-old propriety of being,
Oh, what a haunted way to live!
