A Smile's Dawn

By Glen Savio Palmer

In her eyes, a dawn’s first light

A smile that breaks the longest night

My little niece, her joy profound

When loved ones gather 'round.

Her father’s arms, a fortress strong

Her mother’s touch, where she belongs

Grandparents’ wisdom, a gentle stream

In her gaze, a world of dreams.

Her innocence, a fragile bloom

In every smile, dispels the gloom

She sees the world with wonder’s hue

In every face, a love so true.

Her laughter, like a brook’s soft flow

A melody that we all know

In her presence, hearts take flight

A magic woven like winter's sunlight.

As twilight falls, and shadows blend

Her smile, a light that will not end

For in her eyes, we find our part

A love that binds us, heart to heart.
