Diversity- an invaluable drop added to our world that makes it much more than land inhabited by beings. Diversity in our world is not just something that fills our lives with colours. Mankind has evolved and continues to do so in this age of cut throat competition with its advancements in every sphere of life reaching a never before seen speed. Some people go as far as to say that this period of human history is "The Golden Age".
The Golden Age is defined as a period of prosperity and peace. The world in which we live in today reflects anything but overall peace. This is owed to the fact that in this world, there is still wide-spread racism, there are still children who crave for education, only for their craving to be completely ignored and their lives turned into a mess of black and white because no one gave them a chance to fill it with the colours of education, there are still boundaries between people, walls covered with the pointless labels of caste and countries.
Today, there are countless all over the world suffering for their rights, crying out for social justice but their cries remain unheard. To quote the hymn "The World Stands In Need of Liberation","There are those who have ears but refuse to hear, the cries of those in agony." To eradicate this problem from its very roots and completely tear out the page of social injustice from our books, we need to go to the very heart of this topic.
What is Social Justice? Social Justice is making sure everyone receives equal opportunities irrespective of their caste, creed or religion. Social Justice goes even deeper than that, it is a state that, if achieved, is the embodiment of the cliched analogy "Heaven on Earth".
What stops us from achieving this state? What necessitates the struggle for humans over the world to achieve their fair share of happiness and justice. The causes of social injustice can be many: class discrimination, economic inequality and so on and so forth. However the seed that gave birth to the poisonous tree of social inequality is: Humanity.
Most humans have a tendency, a tendency of never being content, a tendency of always wanting more, the human heart is always ready with a desire to be fulfilled and the mind is more than ready to oblige and devise ways to fulfil said desire. This leads to a section of the society advancing at the cost of the other. The diversity that is the very reason that makes our world beautiful is also the reason for this divide. This leads to a tussle that threatens the preservation of social justice. However, the solution to this problem also lies in-diversity.
When different sections of the society come together and celebrate their differences, combine the powers of their varied opinions that will lead to the formation of a flame that burns down all the darkness of the problems prevailing. We have to open doors that we previously kept shut with the locks of prejudice.
Opening doors of engagement and providing opportunities to all sections of the society irrespective of their caste, creed and religion will pave the way for the construction of a path that leads our society to the true golden steps of success.
This advancement in our society coupled with sincere presentation of everyone's opinion will lead to the complete removal of prejudice from our society. When everyone puts forth their honest opinions removing all sorts of metaphorical mask that will lead to the strengthening of bonds which will soon become unbreakable, bonds which will bring together humans of all castes and creed and truly turn them into a family which understands each other's true nature and a shield of trust will surround the world. Tao Te Ching has rightly said,"Mistrust begets mistrust.Trust begets accomplishments."
The true beauty of this world lies in its diversity. This diversity creates a launching pad of sorts that launches humanity into the stratosphere of success. This diversity is what makes us unique. All throughout the world there are examples of different sections of the society coexisting and this very coexistence is what led to some of the most revolutionary changes in the course of our history. Changes that led to betterment of society, not just materialy but overall development which encompasses all aspects of human life.
This deepening of trust, acknowledgement of the beauty of diversity will lead to a world without discrimination, a world without racism, a world where we will truly live in the "Golden Age". This world can only be achieved when people forget their differences and understand the fact that each and every person is a creation of one Creator, a Creator who had no inequality in mind when creating these creations. Hence, all of us started at a common point no matter our economic status or our caste, we still are on the same point and we will be when our lives end. Every other thing is a mere material accessory we wear while at this common point.
So, all we need to do is put aside our lust for these material accessories, we need to accept our equality and treat others the same way we expect to be treated.
Once we give importance to emphasising the importance of social justice, the importance of treating others with respect and present our true selves, appreciating our own individual unique identity and also that of others, we come a huge step closer to our true aim, our true goal which is building a community based on trust, appreciation and love to combat our problems, problems which can only be solved with true and complete involvement of united humanity.
