Noted Nest

Void

By Daniel John Simmons

I  trapped in a void,

Can anyone hear my screams?

I guess my voice is destroyed,

But still my heart gleams.

Everything within me says no,

My whole being is fighting a war.

Something that I may not know,

But the feeling is very raw.

How do I put it in words,

What do I even say?

Everything within me hurts,

But it's something I have to pay.

At last it is clear,

It is beckoning me.

The sunset looks beautiful,

Doesn't it my dear?
